Well most of you know me or should lol. Some of you have even seen our youtube video's. My wife and I have been in the transportation industry since 1999, Alishia had her class A CDL in 1998 and drove solo as a tractor trailer driver for US Express and then as a Lease contractor for Prime Inc, Prime is where we first got our introduction into being Lease Contractors so when we chose to come here to Try Hours we had already been familiar with how being a Lease Contractor is different than a company driver. After driving over the road for a few years we came off the road and both of us drove local, I spent 12 years as a residential trash man ( where I got my class B CDL ). A couple of those years as a trashman I was a Route foreman and did route planning and training. When our youngest daughter graduated high school we decided we missed being over the road and didn't have anything to keep us home any more. We had looked into a couple different options, since I only had my class B CDL the obvious choice was expediting in a straight truck. I started our search on Expeditors online looking at ads for different owners and carriers. I called several before calling Try Hours, Phil was the only one to answer and not send me to voice mail lol. He put me in touch with Ken Lemely the then Fleet Manager for Davnic. He answered all the questions we had and in Jan of 2016 we made the leap into expediting. At that time not many people were doing videos so we had no prior knowledge of how things in expediting were different than OTR Tractor trailer. The one advantage was we were experienced in how being a lease contractor worked, and figured the rest would work itself out, cause really how hard could it be. Boy were we wrong, by February I was ready to call it quits. I wasn't prepared for freight being slow and what areas were good for freight. It took calling another recruiter at C&M and him explaining that as much as he'd like for us to come drive there honestly the miles and what we were making wouldn't be much different. So we stuck it out. The one thing we loved most about Try Hours was the family feel you got when you walked in the office and dispatch. We started being proactive when it came to loads and moving to better locations when we were empty. We started talking to other driver's like The Carfty Truckers who were a huge help in learning the industry. To this day we are close friends. When Ken decided to retire as fleet Manager I offered to take his place, I wanted to carry on that family atmosphere, grow the fleet and make improvements. To this day I try hard to make sure the trucks we have to offer are the best in the industry and comfortable. I try to implement helpful bonus programs that not only make things easier for you on the road but keep us competitive with other owners in this industry. I want the experience you guys have here to be the best it can be, I want each and everyone of you to be successful and do my best to give you all the information and tips I can. This is a great industry and amazing job, there are many times I miss being on the road with my wife traveling to new places and getting to do things most couples don't get to do. We always looked at this as a Paid Vacation, looking back at pictures and videos shows how much fun we had and the amazing places we got to see. I want for you all to have that same experience.
Hi were Lori and Gale with our adorable dog Bi. Truck 3440. The Grumpy team 🤣 My husband has been driving 30+years and I grew up in the industry having my CDL since back when it was a chauffeur license. Pandemic had me working from home and bored. Convinced my husband to return to team driving. We had not driven team in many years but our boys are grown and this is returning to our roots. Expediting is a new aspect and we're adjusting to it. I chose Davnic because it sounded different from the many others I spoke with. Felicia definitely helped tip the scales in Davnic direction. My favorite part is spending time with my grumpy and meeting other teams. It's been great going out together in different cities, love it! My husband says we will do this till I want to go home or for 5 years which ever comes first. I think he's stuck the whole 5 years 😂
We are Steve and Felicia Donald in truck 3437. We both grew up in Augusta, Ga. Steve is my best friends brother and we met back in 1990. Back when Covid hit Steve was working as a mechanic and I was working as a custodian for the local school district. Steve had been 10 months post chemo and was told to stay home due to weakened immune system and they closed our schools so I was home as well. We were empty nesters to two daughters: 1 near Portland, Oregon and the other near Portland, Maine. My dad and pap were both truck drivers and Steve always joked and said we should do it. I kept telling him no because of our baby still being at the house and one day right before covid I came home and said let’s do it. We studied for the permit and watched so many youtube videos. We REALLY wanted to drive straight truck after running into The Crafty Truckers videos but knew we needed that CDL license. We decided to suck it up and go with a mega carrier and drive for them under contract. We went to school in Iowa late Sept and by the second week of Oct we had both passed top of our class and were separated and driving tractor trailers with our trainers. By beginning of Nov we were together in our own truck. Dec came around and we had been shut down constantly by our company for weather in Wyoming and was being sent there constantly. We had enough because you can’t make money sitting in the truck and contacted The crafty truckers and they put us in contact with Thomas. The rest is history. January 18th will be one year with Davnic and I can honestly say this has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. I love the family atmosphere and I love the freedom we have. I also love my job. Where else can you look out the window and see all of Gods beauty? Sorry so long winded just feeling thankful to Thomas and Davnic for the chance to do what we love.
@Felicia Donald very nice! You have definitely been a great mentor to us and a great ambassador for Davnic. Hope to meet you in person sometime soon. Be safe out there and take care of each other.
Todd & Melissa Truck 3432. We are from Texas. I drove a truck over the road for 20 years. I got out of the trucking industry 10 years ago and Melissa took a job with the Department Of Defense. We moved to Germany and spent 8 years there. During that time I had started a travel agency and would fly back and forth between the US and Germany for work. 2 years ago when Covid hit, we lost all our customers, our business, our house, and finally our car. Thank God for Davnic and Try Hours. We have been here for the last year and a half and have been able to get on our feet more and more every month. Life doesn't suck so much anymore. lol. Don't know where we would be without Davnic. We love it here. I swore I would never go back to truck driving, so its a good thing I found the opportunity where I can be a professional RVer.
@Treva Nutt hi would you send me a picture of your portable toilet please. I told my husband about it and said I want one too. It sounded better than the regular camping ones. Thanks! mloribertholf@gmail.com or in text to 702-401-1204
